ABOUT ME

When people experience severe life stressors it’s not uncommon to feel as if life is unraveling. Depression and grief can undermine movement and the well-being of clients and their families. My passion is in supporting those experiencing major life changes: loss of a loved one, divorce, blended family challenges, addictions, emotional dysregulation (BPD and other Cluster B personality disorders), and life stage transitions.  I help people learn how to reconnect with themselves, find solutions, and improve their relationship with others.

A Registered Therapeutic Counselor, I have a BA from the University of Victoria and a Master's degree from the University of British Columbia. A university professor and lecturer for 20 years, I've taught courses at the University of Victoria, Vancouver Island University, and Royal Roads University.

I'm dedicated to the revisioning and exploration of personal story narratives, the empowerment of voice, expression of experience and self-compassion through writing. In my career as a professor at the University of Victoria I'm committed to imparting knowledge, and empowering others. Professional Counselling has allowed me to bring all that I know and continue to learn, into the compassionate service of helping others.

University Lecturer, Professional Workshop Facilitator, and published author, and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. My counselling services are covered by most insurance companies: Manulife, Equitable, Pacific Blue Cross, and Sun Life. Certified by Psychology Today. Visit the site to find out more.
